0. Definitions:
“Performer”-- a musician or otherwise who has been booked by a Host through Klank.
“Host” –an event host or otherwise who books the Performer, and for whom the Performer will perform.
“App” – refers to Klank as a whole, including its website (www.klank.co.uk) and the mobile application.
“Venue”-- the physical location where the agreed upon gig is held.
1. Booking and Payment
The total booking fee is agreed upon by both parties prior to the acceptance of an Offer.
By accepting the Offer, the host agrees to pay the full amount agreed upon and any service fees which Klank may add to the total booking fee (for more information on what these fees are and why we charge them, visit our FAQs at www.klank.co.uk).
Once the Host pays Klank the booking fee, the payment is final and can only be refunded as outlined in the Cancellation Policy (Section 7).
The Performer may claim their booking fee (minus Klank’s fee) at least 3 working days after the performance date.
2. Amendments to Booking Details
If either party needs to amend the booking details after the Offer has been accepted by both parties (and the Host has paid), they must endeavour to communicate with the other party through the platform. Any written agreement may be taken as an amendment to the booking contract, with Klank having the final verdict.
If the Host desires to change the performance date, they may request to do so through direct communication with the Performer. If both parties come to an informal agreement, then no further action is required. However, if the Performer is unable or unwilling to commit the new date, the Host must either cancel or face losing their entire fee.
3. Use of the Platform
The Performer and the Host will attempt to keep all communication within the Platform so that there is written evidence in the event that there is a dispute.
If a dispute arises regarding information shared outside of the platform, Klank cannot be held responsible for any damages.
4. Host Responsibilities
The Host acknowledges and agrees to undertake reasonable measures to prevent the following:
- Unauthorised use of the Performer's equipment and instruments by other performers or individuals without the explicit consent of the Performer.
- Loss, damage, or theft of the Performer's equipment and instruments while the Performer is present at the Venue, caused by the Host, its guests, or agents.
- Any aggressive or abusive behaviour directed towards the Performer by the Host, its guests, or agents. In the event of such behaviour, the Host shall promptly remove the responsible party from the premises.
Furthermore, the Host will ensure that the venue fulfils the following requirements:
- A secure and reliable power source (if applicable).
- A designated and secure area for the Performer's performance.
- Adequate facilities for the easy loading and unloading of the Performer's gear.
Additionally, the Host commits to complying with any specific Performer requests outlined in the Offer, often called the “Rider.”
5. Performer Responsibilities
The Performer agrees to perform at an appropriate volume level. The volume and sound level of the performance can be adjusted at the Host’s request.
The Performer agrees to provide a performance that is to the best of their ability and as advertised to the Host via the Performer’s promotional, pictures, videos, and audio recordings submitted to the Klank Platform.
The Performer will communicate promptly and reliably.
The Performer will comply with all rules and regulations of the venue.
The Performer will provide all equipment necessary for the performance unless otherwise stated.
The Performer will refrain from excessive consumption of alcohol before, during, and after the performance when the Host and/or guests are present.
The Performer agrees to arrive at the venue early enough to allow enough time for setup. Arrival time is up to the discretion of both parties.
Additionally, the Performer commits to complying with any specific Host requests outlined in the Offer, often called the “Rider.”
The Performer is not employed by Klank or the App and is responsible for its own accounting and the payment of VAT and other taxes arising in connection with any performances, and is responsible for National Insurance contributions in respect of each member of the Performer.
6. Photography and Filming
Unless the Performer has specifically prohibited the Host from taking photographs or videos within the Offer, the Performer grants the Host the right to take photographs or videos for personal use. The Host cannot use this media for commercial use unless given explicit permission by the Performer.
7. Cancellation Policy
See our cancellation policy on our website.
8. Complaints
Complaints about the performance must be made within 3 days of the performance date stated in the Offer.
The Host or Performer can file a complaint through the app, or contact Klank directly at info@klank.co.uk. We will attempt to respond within 5 working days.
Klank cannot be held responsible for the actions or failures of either the Host or Performer, but will use commercially reasonable endeavours to settle disputes without the need for either party to take legal action against each other and to come to an amicable agreement over any refund or expense which may be due.
9. Delayed Event Schedules
In the event that the Event runs over its scheduled duration through no fault of the Performer, there shall be no reduction in the agreed fee for the Performer's performance.
However, should the Event extend beyond its original finishing time, and the Client requests the Performer to continue performing, and the Performer agrees to do so, the Performer is entitled to request additional payment from the Client at their discretion.
It is important to note that the Performer has the right to refuse to perform beyond the agreed finish time without incurring any penalties.
10. Force Majeure
A “Force Majeure” event is when a party cannot comply with its obligations due to a circumstance such as war, death, illness, act of God, terrorism, natural disasters, labour disputes, etc.
In the case of a “Force Majeure” event, the Host and Performer will attempt to find a mutually beneficial solution or, if such a solution cannot be achieved, the Host will receive a full refund.
11. Insurance
At this time, Klank does not provide any insurance of any form to either party. If either the Host or Performer seeks insurance for a gig, they must do so at their own time and expense.
Klank is not liable for any damages to people or their personal property which take place at a Klank event.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Payment must be completed in order to secure the booking. So, you pay at the time of booking. If you choose to cancel after paying, you will receive an appropriate refund based on our Cancellation Policy.

When you pay for a performer, you’ll be charged a small fee on top of the performer’s fee, which can be anywhere from 2-5% of the total gig price. This is to cover critical costs on our end such as Stripe fees and other service fees.

As a host or performer, you will be awarded badges for achieving certain milestones, including simply making an account on the platform! The more time you spend using Klank (and interactions you have, such as bookings), the quicker you’ll obtain badges and experience.

Once you’ve made an account, you can swipe through relevant performers and instant message any that you think would be a great match. Then, simply communicate, negotiate on a fee, fill in any other requests, and book!

We accept most major cards.

You can cancel a booking directly from the events page. Our cancellation policy can be found on our website.

Our performers are the best of the best. As soon as you find a performer you like, book right away to avoid them being scooped up for another event!

Sure! Any requests you have should be communicated directly to the performer and included when creating an offer.

If you’re unsure how much space to allocate to a band or DJ, this is a great question to ask them individually. However, a general rule of thumb is as follows:
  1. 3-pc band: 3 x 3 metres
  2. 4-pc band: 4 metres wide by 3 metres deep
  3. 5 & 6-pc band: 5 metres wide by 3 metres deep
  4. 7-pc and up: 6 metres wide by 4 metres deep

Usually, the performer will arrive anywhere from 30-90 minutes before the gig depending on the size of the event. If you are unsure of how much time the band needs, ask them!

Not to worry. One great thing about Klank is the ability to see reviews and ratings from past hosts on a performer’s profile. This will give you an idea of what they are like both as musicians and clients. Additionally, every performer has to upload photos and videos from past performances so that you can get an idea what they sound like. If the photos and videos which they have uploaded don’t answer all of your questions, feel free to reach out to the performer directly and ask.

Is the sky blue? Ratings and reviews are a critical part of our service. Whether you’re a performer or event host, it’s important to know what to expect when you book a gig. That’s why we allow users to leave reviews after the performance and rate the other party based on a number of factors including safety, skill, and reliability.

Reviews and ratings are one way to determine an event host and/or performer’s reliability. However, it is down to the person hosting the event to ensure that there is a safe place for the performance to occur. This includes having a reliable power source (if required), crowd control (if the event is large enough), and a suitable stage/setup space. This is included in the Terms of Booking.

Yes! You can manage as many events as you would like and have multiple active bookings at the same time. You might even get a badge for doing so :)

Yes! We highly recommend keeping all communication within our in-app messaging system to prevent the sharing of confidential information. As in all things, communication is key, so the more you can understand the performer’s needs (and vice versa) before the gig, the better.

Absolutely. Events can be either public or private, with the option of listing public events on our interactive map (so fans can find and attend your event).

Yup. As you are creating an event, you can specify what kind of music you’re looking for, the size of the band, the location, and other details about the event. This will help ensure you get the perfect act for your event.

In the rare event that there is a disagreement, event hosts or performers can file a dispute directly through the app– just make sure to do it within 3 business days of the gig end. For any comments or concerns, you are always welcome to email us at info@klank.co.uk

Once 3 working days have passed since the gig date (to allow for any complaints or disputes to be addressed), you will be able to claim your fee.

Feature coming soon! As a host or performer, you will be awarded badges for achieving certain milestones, including simply making an account on the platform! The more time you spend using Klank (and interactions you have, such as bookings), the quicker you’ll obtain badges and experience.

We are forced to take a little slice of the pie from the overall gig fee in order to keep our amazing services up and running, and of course to develop new features along the way. Before the performer claims their fee, we remove a small commission.

Klank was built by performers, for performers, and we understand what it’s like to receive unfair compensation for the talent you provide. Our competitors either charge an expensive subscription or take a commission of anywhere from 15-25% of the overall gig fee. Do you really want to give a quarter of your earnings away? Didn’t think so. We take the minimum required to make Klank a premium but affordable service, and this means that as a host and performer you’ll be paying far less than anywhere else.

That’s what we do, baby. No more wondering what to do on a Friday night. With our interactive map, you can filter through events happening right on your doorstep (for free!) so that you’re always that one friend who has a great night planned.

We are still in the early stages of our platform, and currently there is no way to purchase tickets directly through the app (coming soon though!). However, fans can RSVP or mark themselves as ‘interested’ on local events.

  1. 1. Confidentiality. Apart from your name and any other information you have on your profile, you can remain confidential while negotiating with event hosts. No need to share your phone number, email, or even show your face until the gig is booked and payment has been processed.
  2. 2. Cancellation policy. Stay protected in the event that an event host cancels at the last minute. We hold on to the booking fee until the gig is complete to protect both parties in the event of cancellations.
  3. 3. Low fees. We charge a lower commission than any of our competitors– full stop. This is the bare minimum needed to give you the best service possible.
  4. 4. Get paid on time. Always. No more waiting to get paid for a gig you played months ago and having to track down the event host to get your money. Event hosts are forced to pay before the gig, and you can claim your payment just 3 days after the event has occurred.
  5. 5. Automatic contracts. By accepting an offer, you enter into a contract with the event host which protects you in the event that they change their mind at the last minute or pull some other sneaky move. Don’t worry– we’ve got you covered.
  6. 6. Build a reputation. Okay, I’m sure your Instagram page looks great. But it’s time to build a real reputation with consistently good performances. Earn badges, collect rewards, and make sure to impress because good reviews go a long way!
